Who qualifies?

  • Irish residents who own a property in the Republic of Ireland (your home or a rental property)
  • The property must be eligible for an SEAI home energy upgrade grant
  • The upgrades aim for a minimum 20% improvement in your home's energy rating
  • The work will be done by a qualified contractor (SEAI registered One Stop Shop, Energy Partner, or Community Project Coordinator)
  • At least 75% of the loan funds energy-efficient measures

What can you use the loan for?

  • Deep retrofit (multiple upgrades to improve your home's energy performance)
  • One or two significant energy-efficient upgrades like insulation, heat pumps, or solar panels

How to Apply for a Home Energy Upgrade Loan

Step 1: Arrange an Energy Assessment

To start, contact one of the following SEAI-approved service providers to carry out an energy assessment of your home:

  • SEAI Registered One-Stop Shop
  • Energy Partner
  • Community Project Coordinator

If the energy upgrade is expected to improve your home's energy efficiency by at least 20%, and the loan funds at least 75% of the upgrade costs (net of SEAI grants), you may qualify for financing.

Step 2: Submit Your Assessment for Loan Approval

Provide the results of the energy assessment (Home Energy Summary Report) to a participating finance provider, such as AIB, Bank of Ireland, or Permanent TSB, to begin the credit application. Approval is subject to each lender's criteria.
