OLT: Hi Michael, Let’s start by telling us a little about you and how long you’ve been in the tiling business.
Hi there, I’m Michael from Laois – I’m married to Yvonne and have 2 beautiful children and a new puppy! I love the outdoors and taking trips with my family.

I qualified in 2002 and have been working for myself for 15 years. My company MN Tiling is well established in the tiling and bathroom renovation trade in Laois and its surrounds.  We specialise in house tiling including bathrooms, ensuites, kitchens, and floors and offer a full bathroom renovation service. We operate in both the residential and commercial sectors.


OLT: What’s your ideal type of project?  
MN: I’d be known for bespoke tiling work. I also recently completed a large complex herringbone floor for a client. After it was finished, they were extremely happy with the result which is exactly the response I like to see! Also, I love the transformation of an old bathroom to modernise it.   


OLT:  No surprise you’ve great ratings on your profile Michael! How do you approach a job to ensure the customer is happy
  Listening to what the customer wants from the outset is no 1.  I always take the time to properly assess a project and make sure the customer is getting what they want and require.  Open communication between myself and the customer is so vital to there are no misunderstandings.


OLT: Any important lessons you’ve learnt over the years of being in business?
Yes, listen carefully to the client. Always take your time and respect a customer’s opinion on matters.  Also, keep your working area clean. Not only is it better for you to work in a clean environment, the customer always appreciates any steps I take to keep their house as clean as possible during work.


OLT: The recession years have been tough on trade professionals – how did you manage in the last one?
MN:  After a tough year I emigrated to Canada to find more work but I’m delighted to be back home in Ireland and my business is thriving.


OLT: Have you any advice for someone starting out in their career?
MN:  Listen, take your time and treat every property like it’s your own. Make sure to clean as you go.  


OLT: And finally we’d love to know how Onlinetradesmen has helped your business since you joined.
