Heating Systems Recall in Ireland: 114,000 Tucson Pumps Pose Electrocution Risk

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued an urgent safety alert over 114,000 Tucson circulating pumps installed in Irish homes that pose a serious risk of electrocution.

The affected models — Tucson 5m, 6m, and 8m pumps manufactured between 2017 and 2024 — may have a reversed mains connection, allowing the live pin to connect to the earth pin.

🔧 Key Warning for Tradespeople

The CCPC and Association of Electrical Contractors Ireland (AECI) have both warned that contact with the electrical connection of these pumps could result in serious injury or death.

Tradespeople are advised to:

  • Check all heating systems installed or serviced in the past eight years for Tucson-branded pumps.
  • Do not touch or disconnect affected units.
  • Verify serial numbers on CCPC.ie
  • Isolate the circuit and contact Instantor (01 842 6255) for a free replacement by an approved Tucson technician.

⚡ Affected Serial Numbers

Serials starting with S/N A, S/N B, S/N C, S/N D44 or earlier, and S/N 2017–2020 are part of the recall.

🧰 Stay Alert

This is one of the largest and most serious product safety alerts ever issued in Ireland. Tradespeople should check all systems they service this heating season and warn clients not to handle pumps themselves.
