Safe Pass Online Renewal

Starting from January 23rd 2023, a new alternative option to renew Safe Pass, will greatly benefit builders and trade professionals

Before entering a building site, all builders, contractors and trade professionals must complete a safety awareness training course and obtain a Safe Pass registration card. This includes on-site security personnel as well as apprentices and trainees.

A new alternative online option to Safe Pass renewal will be available starting 23rd January 2023. Instead of attending a full-day tutor-led training programme, you will have the option to sit a 45-minute computer-based test made up of 50 questions.

Where do I apply?

You must register for a SOLAS account in order to apply for a renewal test. Starting on January 23rd, you can sign up for a SOLAS account on either the SOLAS or SOLAS Construction Courses websites. You can request a Safe Pass Renewal Test after setting up an account. Additionally, you will get access to study materials.

How much does the Safe Pass Card Online renewal cost?

Instead of spending a full day in the classroom as was previously necessary, the Safe Pass Renewal offers an alternative procedure to renew Safe Pass, taking 45 minutes to complete and costing €93.84

My Safe Pass Card is no longer valid. What choices do I have?

If you want to renew your card after it has expired, you can create a SOLAS online account, schedule the new Safe Pass Renewal test, or go to a tutor-led program.

What if I have never had a Safe Pass Card?

You will need to sit the existing one day tutor led programme with an Approved Training Operator. To find a list of scheduled courses, go to SOLAS.

Every contractor (or anybody acting on their behalf) is responsible for ensuring that everyone under their direct supervision on a building site has successfully completed the Safe Pass course and is in possession of a valid Safe Pass registration card.
