Electrical Contractors Safety & Standards Association (ECSSA) is one of only two Licensed Regulatory Bodies for electrical contractors in Ireland. It has put in place Policies, Procedures and Systems which will ensure that Members work is carried out to the highest levels of safety and in accordance with current ETCI Wiring Rules, while at the same time providing an unbiased, accessible and efficient Complaints and Disciplinary Procedure, where the principals of Fair Play and Natural Justice are paramount.

A FAS Apprenticeship is the recognised means by which people are trained to become craftspeople in Ireland. The main craft trades have been designated by FÁS and come within the scope of the Statutory Apprenticeship system, which is organised in Ireland by FÁS in co-operation with the Department of Education and Science, employers and unions.

Safe Electric, the statutory regulatory scheme for electrical contractors is operated by the Register of Electrical Contractors of Ireland (RECI) on behalf of the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU). It is the role of Safe Electric to ensure that all Registered Electrical Contractors (RECs) are operating to the relevant national standards and technical rules. This includes inspecting their work on an ongoing basis and carrying out disciplinary actions where necessary.
