This is my worst experience ever with a tradesman. I would have given him -5 star rating if there was an option. This guy does not know anything about gardening and short changes you. I should have gone with my gut feeling of not hiring him when he measured the garden area by taking steps instead of measuring tape. He agreed to do certain things on phone on my garden like flower bed, fixing broken fence and putting turf in my garden. He didn't fix the top panel, flower bed and put seeds instead of turf and didn't even put the gate saying he will put when the concrete pillar is settled. When I asked him about not doing promised work he said I never agreed to it. When I showed him whatsapp conversation and reminded him of subsequent phone calls, his response was he didnt agree to it. We had big argument when I said I will pay some amount later when the gate is fixed back. I eventually gave him the money and held back small amount.He was supposed to come back last Tuesday to fix the gate and I haven't heard from him.

This is not a reflection of the work done as we did not engage them - the response that we received through onlinetradesman turned out to be from a different person using the name of michael bennett and the alleged company/business no longer exists. The new business name had no website in the morning, then had an extensive website in the evening, claiming to have been in business for years and at several locations throughtout the country, but is not registered as a business or for VAT. We still weren't entirely dissuaded, but when we rang the one reference we were given - who allegedly had their paving done by this contractor - the referee turned out to be a paving and tarmacadam contractor himself (based in the midlands ) who allegedly engaged this contractor ( 'some fella' in his words) to do his paving in Galway....... we didn't take it any further.

We had a rather unpleasant experience with this tradesman. Michael Bennet (ProPave Tarmacadam) came home on a Saturday to discuss the project, which consisted of landscaping the front and the backyard. This included replacing all the paving stones. During discussions, Michael and I went in detail over what we wanted and what he would provide. He repeatedly promised us he would give us a 'detailed list' of what we agreed. The detailed written plans were never produced. We now feel we should have insisted on getting the written plan beforehand because Michael did not keep his word. There were at least 2 major items he said he would incorporate in the project and he did not. In one instance we had agreed on raised beds along one side. What we got instead was a single row of bricks. We asked him about this and he insisted he never agreed to any raised beds! He later, without consulting us whatsoever, built a small raised wall consisting of stones and charged us several hundreds of euros for it. With this extra charge he had clawed back most of the 'discount' that he had offered us at the beginning of the project. He had also agreed to lay edging stones around the cherry tree. He did not do this either. Michael also arbitrarily increased the quote he had given us for the work in the front yard by few hundreds of euros At this time, we had zero confidence in him and his ability complete the job truthfully. So, we paid him for the back yard asked him to stop work and leave premises immediately. There are other problems which we discovered after he had left.
